SFS News December 31st - January 6th

Happy Holidays to one and all! It is my favorite time of year. I am so excited to spend the holidays with my family! We are going to spend the next 2 weeks with my brother and his family. I will meet a niece who was born a few months ago! I hope you all have time to enjoy your families as well!

When I get back home, I know I will have a ton of pictures to scrap, plus I still need to finish up my 2007 scrapbook. I think I take more pictures from October- December than I do all year long!

My name is Sherrie Smith and I live in western PA. I am married to a great guy named Ed, who is the database administrator for the local hospital. We have three beautiful kids, ages 5, 3, and 1. Before we had kids, I was a computer programmer and software installer for a banking company. I am very glad to have given that up - programming is not for me. I love using the computer for more fun things like graphics. Now, my job is raising the kids and homeschooling them. Our oldest is in first grade now and astounding us with what he figures out on his own. Our three-year-old is a total princess and our little one is a boy through-and-through.


I have been digiscrapping seriously for about 8-10 months and designing for three months, but I have been paper scrapping for nine years. I love digiscrapping because I can use as many ribbons, buttons, and flowers as I want for no additional cost. That makes is hard for me when I paper scrap - I am so spoiled. I love digiscrapping! I am lucky to have a geek for a husband (geek is a good term for computer people), and he knew all about free programs I could use. I use the GIMP for my
designing and scrapping, as well as Inkscape. I am so excited to be on the Element Team here at ScrappinFreestyle.com. I hope that you all like what I come up with for you. Come on over to my blog for some other freebies, too!

Hello,
My name is Jeannie Benson, I go by jeannieb in the forums. I live in Oklahoma with my hubby and 2 boys. Our oldest is 19 and our youngest is 14.

I have done paper scrap booking for about 15 years or so. I started digital scrap booking last year after I was able to get all of my grandmother’s photos and scan them. You will see a lot of my layouts where I use the old photos. I started designing about 2 months ago and really enjoy it. Right now I am on 6 CT teams and 2 element teams.

I also enjoy doing all kinds of different crafts. I make porcelain dolls, I knit and crochet, do cross stitch. I love trying new things.

I´m Lisbet Olofsson, live in North Sweden. I was introduced to paper scrapping in January this year by my sister. We went out by the computer and she showed me an other world – digital scrapping.

I started out with photoshop elements, torn my hair, sighed heavely, hit my head to the table and gave up at least 99 times. But I´m very stubborn and really wanted to learn more and more. So I have only been in this world during this year.

I know I have my own style both with designing and making layouts. I have done one layout with a child on and I want to keep it that way. To show the world that you can scrap on other subjects then human beings and kids.

Cathy was a paper scrapper for over 10 years, until discovering digital last spring. She was a computer programmer working in the field of health research for the National Cancer Institute before starting a family. Now she is the mother of three kids, ages 16, 14, and 9. In recent years, Cathy studied graphic design and also worked as a photo retoucher for a large national portrait studio. She is thrilled to be combining her love of art, computer graphics, and family photographs by joining the Element Team at Scrappin Freestyle.

I live in Austin, Texas. I married my best friend, Stephen, in September 1999. I am at work at home mom to two beautiful children, Hannah and Cayden. I also keep a little girl during the week. My family attends a very small church in Buda, Texas called, The Well. We love the personal relationships we have formed from attending. I am very involved in my local MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group. I have been digiscrappin’ for 2 years and now am creating my very own designs. I really love to created Sketch Templates from my layouts because I know how much they help cut down the time it takes to created layouts. I remember the feeling of being completely overwhelmed when I started digiscrappin’ so it is my goal to make it a little easier for others.

I have worked with computers all my life. I began computer graphics and web design in 1996. I was also in the Air Force for 7 years as a Computer Systems Administrator where I continued to work on web and graphics design. I was always into art and drawing, anything dealing with crafts. That eventually led to digital graphics design, building websites, and then to digital scrapbooking.
Scrapping Style and Subjects:
Digital Scrapbooking is now an obsession for me. Whether it’s a smile or a laugh from my daughter, a look from my husband, or a new quote online, I’m always thinking of new things to scrap. I like to be creative.
